Welcome

My rebus, HUNGRY HELPER, has been chosen for the first printed anthology of the year's best from STORIES FOR CHILDREN E-zine.

Look for my story, EVA'S DUCK, this July in STORIES FOR CHILDREN E-zine.

For the summer my blog will focus on "cheap thrills"  -- travel on a shoestring.  With gas prices up and the economy wobbly, and college tuition looming, frugal travel will be my life.  If you want to follow as I explore the world without spending a lot of cash, here's the link to The "Go" Gene:

I write travel articles for adults and picture books and novels for children. Some of these are available to read online. To see them, click MY WORKS at the top of this page.

Currently I'm working on three novels for children:

YONAH SONG is the story of a Cherokee girl who discovers her place in the world even as her family is torn apart by the Trail of Tears.

PRINCESS involves a modern girl who longs to be normal. Her parents, obsessed with all things medieval, even build a new house which looks like a stone castle. For Princess, moving to the castle is a chance for a fresh start -- a NORMAL start. But can she hide her weird family forever?

It's 1904 in SHOOFLY PIE, when Jack and his Ma go to a dying Rocky Mountains logging town.  Jack's searching for his Poppa, but Ma seems to be searching for a new life apart from Poppa.  When Jack learns his father has a whole other family, will he pressure Ma into giving up her new life?
